Geneva state councillor in charge of social affairs visits the Birdhouse

Geneva State Councillor in charge of the Department of social affairs, Mr Thierry Apothéloz, together with Mrs Nadine Mudry, Director of the Department of social affairs visited the Birdhouse on Tuesday 31 January. It was a great honour for the whole team to welcome them.

Linked projects

The apprentices were very appreciative of the interest Mr Apothéloz and Mrs Mudry paid to their work and to the efforts they put in place towards the obtention of the AFP or CFC diploma. They also exchanged on what their motivations were for undertaking this training.

The Birdhouse is currently training 15 apprentices in service or cooking, 6 of whom will take an exam, next June. Since the launch of the project in September 2019, 10/11 apprentices have successfully passed the AFP or CFC diploma. Obtaining the diploma is an important means of integration, allowing young people to enter the labour market as a qualified workforce.

The added value of the Birdhouse lies, among other things, in the socio-educational support provided by the training and integration coach, who supports the apprentices on a daily basis in all their endeavours and thus helps them to overcome difficulties they may have and which have, in the past, prevented them from continuing their schooling.

The Birdhouse offers seasonal cuisine, mainly using local products - from Monday to Friday. Spaces may be privatised for evening or week-end events, such as cocktails, diners, etc.

Don't hesitate to visit the Birdhouse for a lunch and discover the place and the enthusiasm of young people there!
