Context
For several years, Senegal has posted an annual growth rate of more than 6%, suggesting promising economic development and poverty reduction in this West African country characterized by a young population and political stability. However, recent crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine have presented the country with acute economic and financial challenges. Despite economic reforms, the prospects for young people in terms of education and employment have deteriorated. The situation is even more difficult in rural areas, where only 20% of young people have a fixed job.

Activities
Jeunesse, Culture, Loisirs, Technique, Interventions Sociales (JCLTIS) specializes in the training of young people experiencing family, cultural, educational and professional difficulties. The main aim of its training centre – one of the five largest in Dakar – is to provide young people with a welcoming and supportive place conducive to learning. It is one of the only centres providing educational support coupled with family support. Thus, through its reintegration work it is helping to combat the socioeconomic exclusion of young people in Senegal.
