Partnerships and Fundraising Officer

We are recruiting a Partnerships and Fundraising Officer to strengthen our team!

The position holder reports directly to the Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy and will work in close collaboration with the fundraising team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to the fundraising strategy in French-speaking Switzerland (donor foundations, companies, public funds and individual donors) ; 
  • Develop, maintain and strengthen relationships with existing partners; ensure follow-up, reporting and regular, high-quality communication ;
  • Identify new prospects in French-speaking Switzerland to support the Foundation’s international programme and Swiss projects, and conduct in-depth research on them ;
  • Manage and update prospect lists; develop detailed profiles and ensure data quality in the management database ;
  • Draft and submit funding proposals, narrative and financial reports for all projects (Africa, Asia, Latin America and Switzerland) ;
  • Negotiate and conclude funding agreements with new partners, ensuring their expectations are aligned with the Foundation’s priorities ;
  • Handle administrative tasks related to fundraising (thank-you letters, tax certificates, invoices, etc.) ;
  • The position holder may be required to carry out other tasks as needed, in particular for targeted donor communications.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in management, marketing or communications, development or another relevant discipline ;
  • Interest in development issues, international cooperation for children and young people in difficulty ;
  • Flexibility in carrying out tasks typical of a small team (10–12 people) ;
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to work in a systematic and autonomous manner while communicating regularly both internally and externally ;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to relationships ;
  • Ability to synthesise information and present it effectively ;
  • Required languages: French (very good level / or native language), excellent command of spoken and written English, German and/or Italian are an asset ;
  • IT skills: Word, PowerPoint, Excel ;
  • First job or 1 year of experience in fundraising or in the non-governmental organisation sector, working with private donors or donor foundations in Switzerland ;
