On Tuesday 5 March, Mrs Hiltpold, the Geneva State Councillor in charge of the Department of Public Education (DIP), visited the Birdhouse, our restaurant for school drop-outs in Vernier.

Mrs Hiltpold was accompanied by Mrs Liv Ducrocq, Deputy Secretary General of the DIP, Mrs Audrey Covo, Mrs Hiltpold's personal adviser, and Mrs Liliane Zossou, Deputy Director at the Office pour l'orientation, la formation professionnelle et continue (OFPC).

The State Councillor discussed with the apprentices about the challenges they can face during their training and their daily lives at the Birdhouse. This discussion time was much appreciated by the young people, who saw it as a way of showing particular interest in their career path and the efforts they make throughout their apprenticeship. Mrs Hiltpold stressed the importance of obtaining a diploma in order to find a job and have the opportunity to develop in a trade.

The Birdhouse currently has 15 apprentices in service or kitchen training, 4 of whom will be taking the AFP or CFC exams next June.

We would like to sincerely thank Ms Hiltpold, Ms Ducrocq, Ms Covo and Ms Zossou for the time they have devoted to the team and for their interest in the Birdhouse.
