Supporting vulnerable children in the Congo

Congo (Brazzaville), Brazzaville; Pointe Noire

The street children phenomenon has grown markedly over the last 20 years with 2000 to 3000 children on the streets: a real indicator of the decline of living conditions in the Congo.

In partnership with a network of organizations working with street children, Apprentis d’Auteuil defends children’s rights in the Congo through their advocacy work. This focuses in particular on working with families and organising an exchange programme with young Congolese. It also supports the local partners in their financial management and fundraising.

Project objectives:

  • Awareness building to protect street children.
  • Working with families to help them prevent and find solutions to the street children problem
  • Increase understanding of children’s rights in the Congo
  • Strengthen partners’ skills
