SHELTER, SUPPORT AND EDUCATION FOR STREET CHILDREN in Cusco
The tourist destination of Cusco has a large number of children on the streets. Forced to find money for their family or for their basic needs, thousands of children seek work on the streets. A dormitory offers a place to stay for the night for any young person in need of a safe, dignified place to sleep. In order to offer support to their education, a series of social and cultural activities are offered in the library and cultural centre in addition to training courses in baking and carpentry. The centre is managed by its users talking openly about how they would like it to be managed. The project seeks to enhance the skills of our partner through exchanges with Apprentis d’Auteuil. Our partner aims to strengthen local and national advocacy activity, raising awareness about the issue of street children and defending children’s rights.
- Contribute to the protection of street children and defend their rights
- Develop partner skills and share experience with the Apprentis d’Auteuil team
- Enhance advocacy targeting local and national authorities
