The professionnal integration office in Madagascar
Madagascar, one of the poorest countries in the world, where more than 90% of the population lives on less than 2 dollars a day, has been suffering since the beginning of the year from the intensification of the climatic crisis, with numerous natural disasters. This situation is causing great difficulties in the country, having a considerable impact on the population. Projects to support families and children in highly vulnerable situations are therefore all the more necessary and without specific support from our partners in the field, the opportunities for these children and young people to escape from this great vulnerability are almost impossible.
In order to better support young people in their efforts to access employment, our partner Graine de Bitume, as part of the Sandratra project, has for several years been running the Bureau pour l'Emploi, a real employment office, which has 12 member associations and more than 100 private partners.
The Employment Office is run by a team of educators who offer personalised support and activities to facilitate the social and professional integration of young people. Through socio-educational, technical and professional workshops, the beneficiaries can strengthen their skills and learn about the job market.
The Bureau pour l'Emploi aims to become a key meeting place in Madagascar between young people and the job market.
In 2022, a new concept was born: the integration week where, during 5 days, the Employment Office team welcomes about twenty young people looking for an internship or a job and offers them the opportunity to create links and discover the concept. They also benefit from accelerated school courses and are trained on a number of subjects related to job hunting.
Three integration weeks have already been organised during the first three months of the year. 54 young people from 10 member associations were able to participate.
